Karolinska Institute: AI in Medical Research and Healthcare

Today several research projects show that AI (artificial intelligence) can perform as well as or better than trained physicians at key healthcare tasks for diagnosing diseases. The complexity and large amount of data in medicine and healthcare will increasingly be applied and developed.

The research in medical informatics and machine learning, combined with the development of algorithms and the never-ending increase of data within the medical field, will introduce AI as a natural tool in healthcare.

At Digitalize in Stockholm 2022, Karolinska Institute (KI) organized a panel on AI in Medical Research and Healthcare, raising the questions – where are we today, and where are we heading?

Moderator:
Anders Gustafsson – Vice President and Professor, Karolinska Institutet

Panellists:
Johan Hartman – Professor, Karolinska Institutet, and Senior Physician and Head of Breast Pathology, Karolinska University Hospital
Eric Herlenius – Professor Karolinska Institutet and Senior Physician in Child Medicine, Karolinska University Hospital
Sabine Kock – Professor of Medical Informatics, Karolinska Institutet
